Terms of Service

Last updated 2026-08-08

SeqLog for macOS is free, forever, for personal and commercial use. No account, no trial, no seat count, no upsell.

Your notes are yours. They are Markdown files on your own disk, we never receive them, and nothing here changes that.

These terms cover seqlog.com and SeqLog for macOS. How we handle data is a separate document: the Privacy Policy.

1. Who we are

SeqLog is published by:

2. Your licence to use SeqLog

We grant you a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to install and use SeqLog for macOS on any number of machines you control, for personal or commercial work, for as long as you like. No payment is or will be required for the macOS application.

What the licence does not cover:

Everything not granted above stays with us. This licence ends if you break it; deleting your copies ends it too, and either way the sections on our content, warranties and liability, governing law and language survive.

3. Your notes are yours

We claim no ownership of, and no licence to, anything you write in SeqLog. Your vault is a folder of .md files on your disk. We do not receive it, cannot read it, and could not act on it if asked. If you use the Git features, your notes go directly to the remote you configured, not through us.

What you write is also your responsibility. We have no ability to moderate, recover, back up, or restore it.

4. Updates

SeqLog checks for updates and can install them for you. Updates are signed and delivered through Sparkle. We may change, add, or remove features between versions. If a change would break something you rely on, the release notes say so.

We do not promise updates, support, or maintenance, and we may stop publishing new versions at any time. Any version you already have keeps working; it is on your disk, and so are your files.

5. Using this site

By using seqlog.com you accept these terms. You may read it, download the app, and write to us. You may not attack it, overload it, scrape it at a scale that degrades it for others, or attempt to reach data that is not yours.

6. Paid apps

The macOS application is free forever. Other SeqLog applications may be paid — a SeqLog app for iOS is in development and will be. Anything sold through Apple's App Store is purchased from Apple under Apple's terms, and refunds for those purchases are handled by Apple, not by us. Nothing in this section changes the macOS licence in Section 2.

7. Availability

The site, the downloads, and the update feed are provided as is and as available. We do not promise any level of uptime and may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of them at any time.

8. Our content

The SeqLog name, logo, this website, its text and its design are ours. Nothing here grants you a licence to them. Links to third-party sites are conveniences; we do not control them and are not responsible for what they contain.

9. No warranty, and limits on liability

As far as the law allows, SeqLog and this site are provided without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, nor for lost profits, lost data, or business interruption arising from your use of SeqLog or this site. Because SeqLog is supplied free of charge, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for it.

Keep backups. SeqLog edits files in place, and the Git features run real Git operations against your repository. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

10. Changes to these terms

If these terms change, the new version appears on this page with a new date at the top. Continuing to use SeqLog or this site after that means you accept the new version.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the mainland of the People's Republic of China, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. The courts with jurisdiction over our registered address have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these terms, from SeqLog, or from your use of this site.

12. Language

This document is published in English, and the English version is the only binding one. It controls in the event of any conflict, discrepancy, or ambiguity with a translation.
